About Us
The 5P5T group consists at present of OZ1FDH, OZ1DJJ/OX3LX, OZ1GER, PA5DD/OZ1DOQ, OZ5BD/OX5T, OZ1HDF and AG6QV/OZ1GPI. We have participated in VHF contests for a number of years, and back in the 80's and 90's the members were active with the callsigns OZ5UKW and OZ1DOQ/P. Then after more than a decade of doing other things (like raising kids and getting a job) we started again with our old passion for VHF contesting.
New members are always welcome, please contact us if you would like to join or just visit.
QTH
We are active on 144 MHz every year the first weekend of September from the island of Moen (JO64gx). The QTH is Kongsbjerg 134 m ASL at the southern part of the limestone cliff formation on Moen. Access to the site is through small and slippery trails in the forest, but it is a wonderful and scenic site. The take off from Kongsbjerg is almost perfect with a negative horison 360 deg. Another advantage is that the nearest QRO station (SK7MW) is more than 50 km away.
History
We have been active in the region 1 VHF contest in the first weekend of September since 2007. The first couple of years went by with developing and building the station as well as to improve our logging skills. With the automatic log checks these days any error in the log, no matter how small or insignificant makes you loose all points, thus 100% concentration and focus is necessary.
Slowly our results improved in 2011 we got the 2nd place, with only about 8000 points less than the winner DL0GTH. Then in 2013 everything just worked for us. Improved condx to the east and southeast gave us the 1st place! This wast the first time since 1973 that a danish station had won the region 1 VHF contest.
